The 2021 Valpolicella Ripasso from Villa Crine Winery is a beautifully structured wine that captures the essence of Veneto’s renowned Ripasso method. This technique involves fermenting the Valpolicella wine on the dried grape skins used for Amarone, enhancing its depth, richness, and complexity. This creates a more flavourful and robust wine than a Valpolicella Classico but typically a lighter version than Amarone.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Deep ruby red with garnet highlights.
Aromas: Ripe red berries, black cherry, and plum, with hints of dried figs, spice, and subtle vanilla.
Palate: Medium to full-bodied with silky tannins and balanced acidity. Flavours of dark fruit, blackberry, and chocolate are complemented by notes of cinnamon, tobacco, and a touch of earthiness, leading to a long, smooth finish.
