Established in 2008, Kale Wines artfully crafts Rhône-inspired wines sourced from thoughtfully selected vineyards with optimal soil and climate conditions in Northern California. Utilizing a blend of traditional and modern techniques, their small-batch, handcrafted wines reveal the unique flavours and aromas of each vineyard. “Rhône blends exhibit some of the most compelling expressions of terroir available. The varieties are known to do completely different things in different places.”

Red fruit, fresh ground white pepper and cardamom on the nose. The Grenache is taking a more central role in the blend this year despite being only 49%. The texture is plush and generous, and the tannins have smoothed substantially since bottling day. The typical tobacco and smoked meat character is subdued in the 2016, and it is showing much more freshness and plum.
